Minimum Wage 2025 – Private Sector Survey

As you may know, it is a requirement under the Employment Relations Act 2012 that the Minimum Wage for the Cook Islands is reviewed annually. The Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce as the Representative for the Employers of the Cook Islands is appointed to the Minimum Wage Review Panel, along with a representative of the Cook Islands Workers Association, a Minister -appointed Community Representative, and appointees for the Ministry of Finance & Economic Management and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Panel is tasked with consulting with their respective constituencies and the public, review the past and future economic influencers, and consider the impact on the labour market. The views expressed are then discussed and a position of recommendation formed for the Minister to consider. This culminates with the Minister presenting the final decision to Cabinet for implementation in the new (Government’s) financial year of 1 July.

Your views are important and we would appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey so that we ensure we are bringing a truly employer representative view to the table.

We are sure we can all appreciate the increases in the costs of living, the impact of wages on attracting and retaining workers, and on the Government’s payroll as the largest employer of workers receiving the minimum wage – but, it has to be affordable and sustainable.

So, have your say, all responses are aggregated and the individual responses kept confidential.
