YES Programme Summary

Inspiring young people to discover their potential in business

The Lion’s Foundation NZ founded the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) in 1981 and it has since developed into an experiential business programme managed by the Young Enterprise Trust (NZ).

The Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) is an opportunity for Tereora College Year 13 Business Studies students who wish to engage in a year-long authentic business experience and to unleash their inner entrepreneur and experience the start-up world first-hand.

It is an experiential programme where students set up and run a real businesses here in the Cook Islands. Each YES company creates their own product or service and brings this to market.

Administered by the Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Young Enterprise Trust in New Zealand and sponsored by the Bank of the Cook Islands, the YES programme has been a feature of the Tereora College business studies class since 2013. The students are also supported by their Business Studies teachers, selected business mentors and the Chamber staff.
