Rarotonga, Cook Islands, October 1, 2026. The Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday, Wednesday 30 September, at The Islander Hotel. Financial members gathered at 12pm to review the Chamber’s year and to confirm its leadership for the period ahead.
During the meeting, members discussed the Chamber’s financial position, received updates on matters arising from previous minutes, and reviewed the progress of the Chamber’s work on behalf of the private sector. The discussion reflected the Chamber’s continued focus on transparency, accountability and delivering value to its members.
Three nominations were received for the Board. Liana Scott and Gaye Whitta were both reelected as directors, and Chris Doran joins the Board as a new director. The Chamber thanks all nominees for their willingness to serve and looks forward to the experience and fresh perspective the Board will bring in the year ahead.
At 1pm, the Chamber welcomed the wider community to join members for lunch and a special presentation from Guest Speaker Murray McCully. Mr McCully spoke on behalf of and for the private sector, and his address prompted thoughtful and engaging conversations among attendees about the opportunities and challenges facing business in the Cook Islands.
The Chamber thanks everyone who attended, along with The Islander Hotel for hosting the event. As it moves into the new year, the Chamber remains committed to being the most reliable source of information and support for businesses in the Cook Islands, and to ensuring the voice of the private sector is heard.
